Masmak Fortress in the Saudi capital

Masmak Fortress in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, was first built around 1865. But the building became famous after 37 years later. In 1902, the exiled member of the kingdom, Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud, returned to his ancestral home, Riyadh and captured this fortress.
Headquartered in Masmak, he continued to conquer various kingdoms in the region, before finally uniting them and becoming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that we know today.
At present the Masmak fort is a popular destination among tourists. Here tourists can watch an audio visual that contains the history of the building. In addition there are also displays of various weapons and photo galleries about Saudi Arabia.

Gateway to Mecca

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site is the Gateway to Mecca, which is located in the Old City of Jeddah. In the 7th century AD, Jeddah was the main port in the Indian Ocean trade. This gate also serves as an entry point for Muslim pilgrims arriving by sea on their way to the religious city of Mecca.
Until now the gate is still maintained not only as historical evidence but also a tourist attraction. This gate presents a very distinctive architecture.
As the name implies, this magnificent gate becomes an entrance. Inside the now bustling old city of Jeddah, tourists can find many art galleries, museums, shops owned by local residents to coffee shops.

Mada'in Saleh was the second largest city for the Nabataeans

Mada'in Saleh was the second largest city for the Nabataeans, namely people who settled throughout Arabia until the Jordan Valley until their kingdom was occupied by the Romans in 106 AD. Now, the city only remains in ruins.

The ruins left 130 ancient tombs and small pre-Islamic era altars, all made of stone walls. In this place tourists can witness the Nabatean art skills through carvings on the stone wall. The inscription is a remarkable relic because the Nabataeans did not leave much written history.
In contrast to Petra, which was the capital of the Nabatea tribe, which is now increasingly crowded with tourists, Mada’in Saleh is truly amazingly maintained. Maybe it's because this place is hidden in a lonely desert.
Thanks to its rich history, Mada'in Saleh was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, the first site in Saudi Arabia to receive this award.
